The story behind this jacket:
After a conversation with Dean Micetitch, Co-Founder of Dice Magazine, we came up with the idea of making an embroidered jacket for the cover of issue 83. I designed and embroidered a back patch for the jacket on a freehand machine, using the same method as in the 1940s, 50s and 60s. Levis Vintage Clothing kindly donated this beautiful Type 2, 1953, raw denim jacket especially for us to create something unique. The idea behind this cover was to end with the sale of the jacket, raising funds towards charity. We are aiming to raise money towards a cancer research fundraising campaign that me and my brothers and sisters in the Black Widows, started in the name of Matt Davis, Co-Founder of Dice Magazine, who sadly passed away of cancer. The charity can be found online at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/fuckcancerletsride. With the help of the wonderful people around the world we have previously raised more than $6500.
Jacket concept:
My early years of rigid catholic upbringing mixed with a deep southern Italian superstition has definitely influenced the jacket design.
The black cat here represents independence and power. The snake means danger and uncertainties. In the Italian popular culture and superstition, the 83 means being alone and it’s generally associated with something unpredictable.
I chose the location behind the photography to be as isolated and detached from reality as possible. Me and Peter Long, the great photographer behind this cover, went 69 feet under the Thames river in London. Pete, placed his kit, lights and orange filters, making sure to keep things as real as possible, keeping retouching to a minimum. He shot this cover in medium format, that gives an unreal level of details, and adds just a touch of menace!
We have all lost many of our family members, friends and loved ones to cancer. I created the narrative behind this cover to send a strong message to each and everyone involved in a similar path. Even in the most lonesome and discouraging moments of the fight resilience is the key - Nothing should bring you down! Keep your head up.

Every piece is designed and fully handcrafted by Giulio using the same tools and techniques you’d find in a 1950s or ’60s workshop.
There are no digital processes or modern shortcuts, just time, care, and a deep respect for craft. We make what we love, and only what we’d wear ourselves.
All of our products are made to order. Processing times depend on the complexity of the piece:
- Standard pieces (patches, smaller framed works): usually made within 10 working days from the date of purchase.
- Complex or large-scale pieces (multi-element artworks, embroidered garments): made during scheduled production weeks. These are typically produced in the first week of each month, but scheduling may vary.
This classification is listed on each product. If you need a product sooner, please contact us — we’ll do our best to fit it into our diary where possible.
